Our Cars

When I left for college in my sophomore year, I was the proud owner of a 1955 Chrysler which was not able to survive the Potsdam frigid cold weather. I now no longer had my own car. In my junior year, I saw an ad for a car for sale for $100. I went to look at it and it was behind a fraternity house covered with snow in 0 degree weather. The owner proceeded to get in the car and it started right up - I bought it - it was a 1957 Chevy. Marge and I loved this car and I put well over a 100,000 miles on it. A year later, with rusted floors and no shocks, I sold it for $100. Wish I still had that car!

Next, we bought a 1965 Chevelle, baby blue, white interior, convertible. It was a lovely car but it died in Vermont pulling a U-Haul trailer that was taking our belongings to our new apartment in Foxboro, Mass. We then had to borrow $75 from my folks to buy a brand new 1972 Ford Pinto Delux for $2200. We kept that Pinto all the way to Topeka.
